Current Reseach and Updates on GBV in Manicaland 

In Manicaland Province, a significant portion of women reported experiencing gender-based violence (GBV), with 78.3% experiencing it at some point. Low-income households reported higher rates of GBV, with 84.4% of respondents in that category reporting experiencing it compared to 72.2% in high-income households. A study also found that the top three provinces with the highest reported spousal violence were Mashonaland East (55%), Masvingo (54%), and Manicaland (53%), highlighting the prevalence of GBV in the region.

The study notes that GBV is quite high in Manicaland. Most of the respondents, 78.3%, reported that they had experienced GBV. However, respondents in low-income households were more likely to report that they ever experienced GBV, 84.4% when compared to those in high-income households, 72.2%
